O-Week
Hello everyone!
Welcome to another year of uni, or to some of you, first year of uni!
We say hello to you from Students Playing Go as well as welcome to Orientation Week, better known as O-Week.
This year of 2008 we have bigger and better things in store.
Firstly, we'll be there as usual at Clubs and Societies days during O-Week, on Thursday and Friday 12am-4pm. Everyone is encouraged to come along whether you're new to uni and to Go, or wish to take an interest or want to sign up to the club on the spot!
Students Playing Go will give introductions to the game of Go with presentations and quick lessons on our massive Go demonstration board, and our friendly members will be pleased to play games or to teach. Don't be shy, step up and introduce yourself!
Membership to the club is per year and will entitled you to our meetings, events and tournaments as well as discounts with out sponsors for go equipment and books.
This year the membership fee will be as follows:-
Union members $2.50
Non Union members $5
Non Uni-melb members $8
Our first meeting takes place on Monday 3rd March at Alice Hoy room 307, so feel free to come along =)
Secondly, we're proud to introduce beginners night! Where everyone is welcome to chill out and play and learn. Beginners night will take place on 13th March at Mary Cooke room A, Union House 5-8pm and it's completely free, so bring yourself and friends.
Joining a club is a great way to meet friends and SPGO is prime example! You get to learn something new, be social, meet people and have a chance to become involved in university life!
So come along and see us during O-week!
