Update of Beginners' Night
The evening started precisely at four with plenty of people meandering in as boards and stones were laid out. Spotting students curiously peeking in, they were hurriedly encouraged inside to join the fun. It wasn't long before enthusiastic players dived into play, taking up both sides of the Cornish Graham rooms. Meanwhile the food table was also being set up; with bread wraps, savoury dips, marshmallows and sweets, chips, and drinks. The dips were quite a firm favourite, disappearing quickly by the time yours truly had to leave for a tutorial. I had to miss the middle hour, but heard that our resident tournament director had a demonstration of life and death situations and some strategy play. If you've enjoyed the demonstration and wish to leave some feedback, let us know =).
The evening picked up with lively conversation, there were groups of teaching games, and others who preferred one-on-one. Most of the pizza was gone, over 10 boxes!
When the evening finally ends, there were still many students playing till the end, so we took a group photo =D
Thankyou again to everyone who came, it's very much appreciated. It was lovely to see some outside players including several from the local highschool who are unable to make it to our weekly meetings. To those who missed it, don't fear, there are plenty of events coming up.
Our annual tournament is due to take place mid-easter, please email us to register! It's free to members with some awesome cool prizes, and pride of victory!
Also don't forget to sign up for the NEC Cup!
